New Brisbane developments set to create more than 2000 construction jobs

Brisbane City Council and Queensland Government have recently approved several new construction projects in the city’s CBD set to create more than 2000 new construction jobs for local workers.
Proposed projects include further wharf developments as well as a new skyrise of serviced apartments. The Queens Wharf project alone is set to provide around 2000 jobs for Brisbane construction workers by 2022.
The prospects come at the perfect time as housing development is still expected to decrease after its massive boom in recent years.
The developments broken down
The Brisbane City Council has committed to restoring the Howard Smith Wharves site on the iconic Brisbane River in an attempt to turn the area into public parkland with additional commercial areas including cafes, an exhibition area, and a hotel. The historic site had previously been used as a cargo wharf until the 1960s and will now be given new life appealing to locals and tourists alike. The project will create new construction jobs for the region.
The Queens’s Wharf project confirmed by the Queensland Government was announced late last year with an estimated cost of $3 billion. The project is set to create an entertainment and leisure precinct. The Government has predicted an estimate of 2000 construction jobs will be created by this project alone by the year 2022.
The skyrise project, a 250-metre tower, has been proposed by PDS Australia. The building will boast inner city accommodation, retail space, and luxury apartments. The executive chairman of PDS Australia has been quoted saying of the project, “As the Brisbane urban landscape changes and the population increases, Queen’s Tower will respond to that future need for quality inner-city living.” The coming period of change and growth means good news for the construction industry and those about to enter this workforce.

All of these projects are good news for the construction industry in Brisbane and Queensland as a whole. The projects give construction workers the opportunity to work on innovative, community-building and entertainment precincts that add value to the Brisbane public.
This is a bright future for workers in the construction industry and means it is a great time to get qualified to help you secure your position in the growing and changing Brisbane construction environment.
