What is a Trade Apprenticeship?

A Trade Apprenticeship is an employment contract between yourself and a job seeker for a period of 3-4 years, subsidised by the state government.

A Trade Apprenticeship is the most popular pathway for the next generation to gain their trade qualification and a cost-effective way to build your team.

What’s involved?

As a qualified employer you provide on-the-job training within your scope of work, while CTI, as your training provider, partners with you to fill in any gaps and deliver formal training at our purpose-built workshops approximately every 4-6 weeks.

How does the formal training work?

CTI specialises in workshop-based training as we recognise that many employers do not cover the full range of skills required for the Cert III qualification, and our style of training fills these gaps.

We balance immersive full-day practical workshops every 4–6 weeks with engaging online learning across all aspects of carpentry while minimizing time away from the job site.

The workshop-based model fosters relationships amongst apprentices supporting their learning experience, mental well-being and future success in the industry.

Unlike the pressures of a job site, our controlled environment allows apprentices to ask questions and practice freely, mastering skills at their own pace. This environment encourages real learning, providing the freedom to make mistakes and become comfortable with tools and techniques.

Our apprentices have access to online learning resources, allowing them to track their progress and workshop schedules. They can also request one-on-one tuition for coursework support whenever needed.

As an employer, you’ll have clear visibility on your apprentice’s progress, scheduled workshops, and online access to monitor their competencies, allowing you to stay informed and engaged in their development.

We accept enrolments year-round, allowing your apprentice to start whenever you are ready.

If you have existing apprentices with another training provider and would like to transfer them to CTI we make this easy.  Our training is flexible, designed to adapt to different remaining apprenticeship timelines, ensuring that each apprentice can progress at a pace that suits their individual needs.
